Community Patch Preview (Nov 5)
Hello Bazaarians!
We want to give you an early taste of what's coming in the patch next week. While Jules is the primary feature, we have changes in store for every hero.
Jules: Chef-Entertainer-Warrior-Mom
- 110 all new Jules cards

Jules brings an all new mechanic: Rug sockets.
- Sockets sit on top of your rug (but below your items) and add effects to the items in those slots.
- Sockets allow us to provide buffs (or debuffs) to items in specific slots on your board (even as your board expands/grows).
- With Jules there are two socket effects coming to the game: Stoves and Coolers.
- Stoves and Coolers provide items with either "Heated" or "Chilled" effects. Some of Jules' new items and skills can utilize being Heated and Chilled to great effect! There are several ways to apply Heated and Chilled, but the most consistent source is from Stoves and Coolers.
Balance Update
- This month we focused on elevating unplayed items across heroes, while strategically nerfing overperforming items. We reduced the impact of triggered skills by limiting the number of times they can trigger during a fight. Don't worry; we didn't do this with every skill. We still want late-game rare monster skills to be exciting build-enablers!
New Stuff
- Stelle and Mak have uncovered a few new items! Stelle receives a mini Drone pack, and Mak has stocked up with unique skills as well. Keep your eyes out for the Item Reveals coming from Creators in the next few days!
- On this topic, we've seen questions about how old Heroes will receive updates now that we're no longer releasing seasonal Item Packs. The plan moving forward is to release new items to old Heroes regularly alongside our Balance Patches between Releases. While these updates may be smaller in scale, our goal is to make sure that every Hero gets love from time to time.

Soft Ranked Resets

For the first time, at the start of the season we have a soft rank reset instead of everyone being rolled all the way back to Bronze 5. This should help the transition into the new season go smoother as every player won't be clumped together for ghost matching

Patch Preview (October 8th)
Welcome back Bazaarians! Today we want to announce officially that we will have a
large balance patch coming out next week, on Wednesday October 8th.
While we're still working on data and finalizing the exact changes in the patch
we wanted to give you a preview of the kinds of changes to expect and why we are making them.
General Patch Goals:
- We want to continue to move away from items with large
permanent/out of combat scaling when possible as they can commit you to builds early and lead to un-fun
matchups when the scaling is out of control.
- This does not mean we're eliminating ALL out of combat
scaling, but we are continuing to adjust items as we can to lower how much items like this show
up.

What does this mean for this patch?
- A complete rework of Dooley's Dinosaur build to focus on in
combat scaling instead of permanent scaling.
- Reworks for Tea Set and Coincure, two more of Pyg's permanent
scaling items
- Our next main goal was to try and improve Pygmalien's early
and mid-game in order to smooth out his general play experience and give us the space to lower the power
level of some of his later game builds.
- What does this mean for this patch?
- Improving Pyg's early game healing lines, particularly for
hybrid builds with healing and weapons
- Reworks for Hammock, Coincure, Hypergreens, Tea Set, Succulents,
Weights, Staying Power, OverHeal Regeneration
- We also looked to tweak overperforming items across all Heroes,
although these changes have been less than in previous balance patches (and generally less intense
nerfs)

reduction players can stack across items and skills. As a result we nerfed the majority of cooldown
reduction items and skills across the board.
- Along with all these changes to items, we also wanted to focus on
cleaning up skills in this update. To this end we tweaked a number of skills that haven't been
seeing play and adjusted which skills show up on which hero to try and create more viable options and
interesting skill decisions.
- Beyond these changes to items and skills, we're also
looking to both balance and spice up encounter and level up options. To this end we now have a number of
powerful encounters that give you 0 exp instead of the normal 1 for the hour and have tweaked a bunch of
encounters and level up options to improve variety.
- Lastly, this update also features some new content!
Including:
- Two Stelle items that were previously disabled but now are
functional (Bomb Voyage and Binoculars)
- 6 new encounters (including a unique Mak encounter)

BALANCE PATCH OVERVIEW
DESIGN GOALS
- Reduce the power level of Stelle, particularly in the early game with cards like Private Runabout and late game with Hangar.
- Reduce the power level of out of combat scaling items (like Money Tree and the cards that enable it).
- Make the strongest enchants with the biggest immediate impact rarer (primarily Obsidian and Shielded) as they often are a culprit in making otherwise safe items into a problem.
- Improving the numbers on existing items that are not seeing much play so that they now feel more viable.

- We are changing the way players are matched with opponents' ghosts in Ranked and Normal modes in order to create a smoother onboarding experience for new players.
- Players will only be matched with ghosts of players of their rank or lower for their PvP fights.
- This will be a smoother experience for new players as they work to get better at the game, and find the rank they naturally level up to.
- The experience for higher rank players should not be changed as they still can play against ghosts of any rank.
- Players will now gain and lose rank points throughout the ranking process to help keep them in the proper rank for their current skill level:

All players who have created a Tempo Account that played past the tutorial as of 8/8 at 12:30 PDT, will be given the heroes Pygmalien, Dooley, and Mak.

Going forward, the base game will include the heroes Vanessa, Pygmalien, and Dooley, sold as a set with a launch price of $39.99.

Future heroes will not be sold for gems and will be available for $19.99.
We have launched a new Hero: Stelle, the Ingenious Engineer.
With the launch of Stelle, comes new encounters, new enemies, and over 100 new items.

In order to play any Bazaar content on Steam, you must first buy the base game on Steam. If you prefer, you may continue playing through the Tempo Launcher.

Ranked Mode Changes

We no longer have Ranked tickets, you can play Ranked as much as you'd like.

Any saved Ranked Tickets will automatically be converted to 100 Gems each.

Normal Mode Changes

Normal mode will now award chests just like Ranked.

We've made changes to the matchmaking of Ghosts during a player's first Normal games, introducing increasingly difficult Ghosts over time.

Normal mode should now feel like an easier place to learn the game.
Chest and Store Changes

Moving forward, both Gems and Chests will only provide cosmetic upgrades and neither will provide any gameplay advantages.

Chest rewards at the end of runs have been increased to 2/4/6 from 1/2/3.

Chest no longer naturally give Gems, but will have rare chances to drop large amounts of Gems.

Chest rarity drop rates higher rarities have been increased.

In the future, duplicate cosmetics will no longer be possible and instead, you will obtain Gems equal to their cost in the Store for that rarity tier

For this update, you will still get duplicate cosmetics in chests. These will be converted into gems at a future date.

We are replacing our rotating Seasonal Chests with a Chest that has the potential to provide almost all available cosmetics.

The Store will no longer have limited time content. Instead, the Store offers Daily rotational offers from the Chest themselves.

Prize Pass and Subscription Changes

We no longer have plans to develop a player-to-player marketplace. With this shift, we will soon be removing the ability for accounts to have duplicate cosmetics, providing gems in place based on the tier. At that time, all duplicates will be converted to gems.

With no player-to-player marketplace on the horizon, we will also be sunsetting mint numbers.

- All players who have created a Tempo Account as of 8/8 at 12:30 PDT, will be given the heroes Pygmalien, Dooley, and Mak.
- Going forward, the base game will include the heroes Vanessa, Pygmalien, and Dooley, and will be sold as a set with a launch price of $45.
- Future heroes will not be sold for gems and will be available for $20.
Ranked Mode Changes
- We no longer have Ranked tickets, you can play Ranked as much as you'd like.
- Any saved Ranked Tickets will automatically be converted to 100 Gems each.
- Rank progress will continue to reset each month so players can still earn Ranked rewards.
Normal Mode Changes
- Normal mode will now award chests just like Ranked.
- We've made changes to the matchmaking of Ghosts during a player's first Normal games, introducing increasingly difficult Ghosts over time.
- Normal mode should now feel like an easier place to learn the game.
Future Hero Expansions
- We are removing Hero Expansions from the Prize Pass.
- If you have a hero unlocked, you will have access to the same pool of items as everyone else who has that hero unlocked.
- We will continue creating new items for each hero, and future items will arrive in the Bazaar at the same time for all players.
Chest / Store / Subscription Changes
- Chest rewards at the end of runs have been increased to 2/4/6 from 1/2/3.
- We will no longer sell or renew subscriptions. Existing subscriptions will continue until they expire, earning double XP and up to 12 chests per run until they expire.
- Moving forward, Gems will not provide any gameplay advantages.
- The Prize Pass is completely free and will no longer offer tier skips.
- We are replacing our rotating Seasonal Chests with a Chest that has the potential to provide almost all available cosmetics, including all previous boards and albums from previous Seasons.
Canceling Plans for Marketplace
- We no longer have plans to develop a player-to-player marketplace. With this shift, we will soon be removing the ability for accounts to have duplicate cosmetics, providing gems in place based on the tier. At that time, all duplicates will be converted to gems.
- With no player-to-player marketplace on the horizon, we will also be sunsetting mint numbers.
Stelle Release
- We are launching a new hero, Stelle, the Ingenious Engineer!
- With the launch of Stelle, comes new encounters, new enemies, and over 100 new items.
- We have introduced a new mechanic: Flight. Items that are flying gain a reduction from Slow and Freeze effects by 50%.

Cooldown Reduction
- These effects have been modified to the following formula:
Final Cooldown = (Base Cooldown - SUM(Flat Cooldown Reduction)) * (100 - SUM(Percent Cooldown Reduction))
- This means that shuffling cooldown items before applying an on-sell Percent-based Cooldown Reduction (e.g. Feather) no longer has an effect, as all reductions are now pooled.
- It also means the value of each 1% CDR is the same regardless of timing. Caps and clamps apply in edge cases.
- A number of items and skills that provided percent-based CDR have been adjusted upward due to the removal of diminishing returns.
